Rather than giving my full length work away for free on Amazon, Andra Parnell gave me a great idea - write a prequel! So here it is .... Free for all time . https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/168145
Does anyone know how to list an EBook FREE on Amazon? I don't mean the KDP Select program but my short ROMANCE which is an introduction to the some of the characters in my acclaimed crime series. I have listed it FREE on Smashwords, but I can't seem to do the same on Amazon. Does it have to be Public Domain?
I am uploading my first ebook this week by the KDP, so can't help you, but I'm sure someone will....

As for Amazon, if you have published via Kindle you should be allowed to feature a limited time on your title as a free Kindle product. The Smashwords platform does already include a Kindle-compatible choice. It may be easier just to spread the link to that.
Great to hear from you, Helgaleena. Books can be given "Free" for a limited time on Amazon if they are part of the Amazon Kindle Select programme, but that carries an "exclusivity" clause. If you sign up to include your book in Kindle Select, your book must not be sold in any other EBook format. My EBooks are available through Sony, Apple, Barnes and Noble and others. Smashwords and Amazon are in consultation at the moment so the listing as FREE on Amazon has been delayed,
